The first Peruvian charcoal-broiled rotisserie chicken restaurant opened in 1988 in Arlington, Virginia

In 1988 Victor and Nelida Solano started a local phenomenon that soon took the US by storm: Peruvian chicken!

Victor Solano was inspired to open the country’s first Peruvian rotisserie chicken restaurant by the local street vendors in his hometown of Trujillo, Peru. With the help of his family, Victor opened the very first Peruvian charcoal-broiled rotisserie chicken restaurant in the US.

From humble beginnings in a strip mall on Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, El Pollo Rico has expanded to three locations in Arlington, Woodbridge, and Wheaton. This is all thanks to you, our loyal customers, without whose continued patronage none of this would have ever been possible! In return, we promise to maintain the quality and convenience which you’ve all enjoyed for so long. We look forward to continued support from customers old and new for years to come.
